The final tranche of the topics from Horizon Europe 2023/2024 Cluster 5 work programme officially opened on September 17 with a deadline of 04 February 2025.
Destination 3 “Sustainable, secure and competitive energy supply” has 13 topics with a budget of €138m covering research (RIA), demo projects (IA) and CSAs that include a topic on “Market Uptake Measures of renewable energy systems”. Destination 4 “Efficient, sustainable and inclusive energy use” has five topics under the Built4People Partnership with €50m available. Research topics (RIA) on automated solutions for construction and Design for adaptability. The Innovation Actions target the Industrialisation of workflows, BIM-based processes and digital twins for renovation and Digital solutions for design, planning and management of buildings. On July 3, 2024, the Government of Canada and the European Commission signed an agreement allowing Canada's enhanced participation in Horizon Europe.
Canada’s Trade Commissioner Service (TCS) is organising an online matchmaking event: Bridging the Atlantic – Cleantech 2024. This brokerage will target the Cluster 5 Destination 3 topics that have a February 2025 deadline - more here.

The 18th Strategic Energy Technology SET Plan conference will take place in Budapest on 14-15 November 2024. This year's theme, "Scaling up research, innovation and competitiveness in clean energy technologies", highlights the need to reinforce the research and innovation landscape, to enhance competitiveness and sovereignty of clean energy technology value chains within the EU.
The SET Plan was established in 2007 and became one of the main instruments of the energy union’s 5th pillar on research, innovation and competitiveness, it was revised with the European Green Deal, REPowerEU and the Green Deal Industrial Plan, notably the Net-Zero Industry Act. Developing roadmaps, focusing on 10 action areas with 14 working groups, these are the guides to future Horizon Europe energy calls.
