May 5 2026 saw the opening of the Call - BATTERIES and ENERGY with eight topics that include the Coordinated topic with India on recycling of EV batteries and the Destination 4 topics on Buildings from the Built4People co-programmed Partnership. The call also has the very large topic (€93m for one project) on Innovative technologies and solutions to improve wind energy systems supporting the Strategic Energy Technology (SET) Plan on wind.

The main aim of this call is to support the development of a new generation of demonstrators in clean tech and decarbonised industry that combine technological excellence and market readiness with a view to accelerating their market deployment.
Bottom-up and industry-led approach - two large open topics focusing on:
1) Clean Tech for Climate; and 2) Decarbonisation of Energy-Intensive Industries.
Deadline September 15 2026
April 21 saw the opening of the LIFE Clean Energy Transition topics for 2026, with a deadline of September 16. The call has €85.5m for 13 topics and are Coordination and Support Actions (CSAs) with 95% funding available. For four of the topics, including the One Stop Shop topic, proposals can be submitted by a single applicant from an eligible country. In practice these four topics have multiple partners from the one country applying.
The commission had information days on April 28-30 and they also shared videos of the LIFE CET 2026 topic presentations. If you are applying to a LIFE CET topic these videos are a must see - some of the topics presented also have the related policy context presentation.
Ireland's National Information Day for the LIFE Programme 2026, on Tuesday, 12 May 2026 will have recordings and presentations also available. (link not yet available).
Fully Funded Expert Support Sessions: To support LIFE 2026 applications, DCEE is offering fully funded one-to-one expert consultancy sessions to help strengthen Irish applications. These sessions, delivered by experienced EU funding consultants, provide tailored advice on concept development, proposal drafting, budgeting, work programme design and focused alignment with LIFE programme evaluation criteria. The support is available to all Irish organisations and consortia planning to submit a proposal in any of the four LIFE sub-programmes.
