COST (European Cooperation in Science and Technology) is an intergovernmental framework that fosters collaboration among researchers across Europe. It provides a platform for networking and knowledge exchange through its science and technology networks known as COST Actions.
Actions are thematic networks that bring together researchers, policymakers, and industry professionals to address specific scientific and technological challenges. A recently published factsheet highlights Ireland’s active participation in COST Actions during 2023.
Strong Involvement: Irish researchers are engaged in 90% of the current COST Actions.
Leadership Roles: They also hold leadership positions in nearly 70% of these networks.
Gender Equality and Inclusion: COST actively promotes gender equality and encourages participation by researchers at all career stages.
Progress in Ireland: The figures in the factsheet indicate positive progress in both metrics.
Exploring Current Actions: The factsheet provides links to ongoing COST Actions led by Ireland’s researchers. Click through to access more detailed information on activities and events.
Joining COST Actions: If you’re interested in participating in a COST Action or submitting a proposal for a new Action to the open call in October 2024, contact Ireland’s COST National Co-ordinator, David Flood.
