Horizon Europe Cluster 5 (Climate, Energy and Mobility) aims to fund transformative research and innovation to support the objective of achieving climate neutrality in Europe by 2050.
Call for proposals for 2024 for Cluster 5 are now open. The latest version of the Work Programme, published by the European Commission, is available for download on the EU Funding and Tenders portal (please ensure you download the latest version of the Work Programme). Topics open for proposals in mobility will close in April and September 2024 and include topics related to the European Partnerships - Connected, Cooperative and Automated mobility (CCAM), Batteries (BATT4EU), Zero Emission Vehicles (2Zero) and Zero Emission Waterborne Transport (ZEWT).
The Clean Aviation and SESAR Joint Undertakings have recently successfully completed their latest round of calls, with approximately €6.6 million going to Ireland.
GREENET, the European grouping of Cluster 5 NCPs, have launched the new Stakeholder Directory to enable potential applicants to Horizon Europe to identify the roles of the different organisations, and which organisations are the ones that they should engage with for different purposes. This includes consortium forming, shaping the direction of the future Work Programme and understanding the policies, standards and legislation important to their specific area of interest within the Climate, Energy and Mobility sector. The European Commission will host an online information day on the 17 October supporting the Cluster 5 calls in 2024.

EARPA, the European Automotive Research Providers Association, will hold the 4th Future of Road Mobility Forum – (FORM Forum) 2023 which will take place from 17-18 October 2023 on Road Research in Brussels.
The event brings together stakeholders from industry, academia and government to share knowledge and ideas, with the aim of providing the next generation of automotive solutions. For details see FORM Forum 2023.
The SESAR Innovation Days 2023 will take place in Seville, Spain from 27 - 30 November 2023, hosted by the Faculty of Engineering at the University of Seville.
The SESAR Innovation Days (SIDs) are the main vehicle for SESAR Joint Undertaking to share progress and disseminate exploratory research results. Unlike other scientific events in air traffic management (ATM) research, the innovation Days focuses mainly on exploratory research, while also showcasing results industrial research and demonstrations. Organised annually since 2011, the SESAR Innovation Days have become a landmark event in the European aviation research calendar. See SESAR Innovation Days for details.
Finally, preparations are underway for Europe’s flagship transport and mobility R&I event, the Transport Research Arena (TRA) which will be held in Dublin for the first time from the 15-18 April 2024 - more details at TRA Conference - Transport Research Arena | TRA Conference.
The event will cover all modes of transport as well as cross-cutting topics such as digitalisation, sustainability, logistics, energy for transport, batteries, connected and autonomous vehicles and drones. Representatives from the European Commission, the Transport European Technology Platforms, industry and the research community active in the mobility space will be in attendance. This will be an excellent opportunity to listen to the latest development in Mobility from across Europe and further afield. Early bird registration for the event is expected to open mid-October. Opportunities are still available for sponsorship, exhibition stands and demonstration.
